I graduated from Mount St. Mary's College with a Master of Physical Therapy in 1999. Immediately following I began my career in physical therapy but also as a professional beach volleyball player, on the AVP tour. In my 20 years as a therapist, I have worked at several well known clinics in the Marina del Rey, Santa Monica and Pacific Palisades areas. I started working for myself 15 years ago and I started Holistic Physical Therapy and Wellness in 2013. You can currently find me in Brentwood at 12401 Wilshire Blvd. and at my home office in Mar Vista. However, I have transitioned to doing mostly home visits. I have continued to play beach volleyball and improve my physical therapy skills, using my own experience with pain in learning what works to relieve it. About 15 ago I started incorporating cupping into my treatments and I find it to be invaluable in releasing tight tissues and relieving pain. In 2013 I received my 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified yoga teacher training from Tamal Dodge. I find yoga based exercises useful even for senior citizens and they can always be modified to a person's abilities. I've studied dynamic neuromuscular stability (known as DNS) and the important work of Vladimir Janda. I always been interested in health and healing as I had to heal my own body of chronic fatigue using herbs, cleanses and proper nutrition. In my spare time, I enjoy supporting human and animal rights causes ( #animalhopeandwellness #stopthetorture), doing my part to help change the world for the better.
As a therapist I seek out the source of my client's problems, addressing the joint and soft tissue issues, and correcting the muscle imbalances in strength, flexibility and biomechanics. I see the body as integrated functioning groups, not individual parts. Poorly working muscle groups or poor alignment causes strain on joints, tendons, and muscles and can cause injury over time. I use specially developed hands-on techniques that combine eastern and western methods of myofascial release to break up painful adhesions and inflammation. This allows for immediate relief of pain and quickly restores flexibility and strength, even for chronic disorders.
